Irish Farmhouse Holiday guest reviews

If you want to experience life in the Irish countryside, then an Irish farmhouse holiday is the ideal choice for you. Farmhouse hosts are renowned for their warm hospitality, delicious home-cooking and commitment to ensuring that each and every guest enjoys a unique farmstay experience. Below is a small selection of reviews from guests who have loved their time on an Irish farm…

Lynch’s Farmhouse – Eyrecourt, Galway

Josephine and her husband showed me true Irish hospitality. I was feeling a little isolated after a long journey. I was given tea with cream and jam filled pastries, sat by a warm fire, enjoyed the conversation. My room was lovely. Breakfast was delicious. I could see their family dairy farm from my window. If you are looking for a welcome, it’s here.    Marilyn Cawthon

Doonagore Farmhouse – Cliffs of Moher, Clare

We have stayed here on each of our trips to Ireland. It’s in a perfect location to Cliffs of Moher and the town of Doolin. The hosts go above and beyond to help during your stay. The views from the backyard are beautiful! Will be back on our next trip!   Aimee Houston

Garvey’s Farmhouse – Dingle, Kerry

Joan is a charming and dynamic host. We loved our stay at this working farm where a very nice dog greeted us. The view from our room on the sea in the distance (and on the Gaelic History Museum) was magnificent. The bedroom was comfortable, pleasant and charming. In addition, Joan offered us delicious breakfasts and gave us great tips to visit the area. Gite recommandé, propriétaires charmants et situation idéale.   Philippe Vuillerme

Hill View Farm – Cong Connemara, Mayo

Bridie was a wonderful host! Facilities were comfortable and nice. Her Irish breakfast was great, we could look out our window and see an open pasture of cows as the farm is a working one. Village of Cong which is just “a good stretch of the legs” is in fact within walking distance and this is that magical area of Ireland where the Quiet Man was filmed. Ryan’s Hotel has a good restaurant and you are within walking distance of the Museum commemorating the same film. Thanks Bridie

Grove Farm House – Inistioge, Kilkenny

We cannot thank Neelie and Pat enough for making our stay so enjoyable. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. Our breakfast was fresh and amazing. We especially enjoyed sitting in the sunroom upon our return at the end of the day sharing a nightcap and pleasant conversation with them. I would also like to thank Pat for taking us out to see the cows and telling us about life on the farm. These are special memories we will never forget.

Ard Na Greine – Clonakilty, Cork

Norma is a fantastic hostess. We arrived late due to flight delays. She welcomed us in at 2100, and immediately offered us tea and biscuits! She was always willing and able to help us plan our day trips from the farm with an experience that can only come from living here. The breakfasts are phenomenal, and yes, very day we set out with those precious scones in a baggie. If you leave her table hungry, it’s your fault! Her recommendations about the area were always on point for us. Our 4 nights at And Na Greine were the best of our week in Ireland. If you want traditional Irish hospitality, you’ll find it alive and well with Norma Walsh!  Phil Holt

Doonagore Farmhouse, Cliffs of Moher, Clare

You won’t regret staying with Pat and Mary! Their home was welcoming and comfortable. We had a great view out our window to the sunset over the sea. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to do the hike with Pat to the Cliffs. This is WAY better than what the visitor center has to offer! While staying there, we also listened to some live “free-style” Irish music at O’Connor’s and it was wonderful. Our stay in Doolin and at their Farmhouse was our favorite part of our Ireland trip!

Bernadette and her husband were wonderful hosts! She took the time to sit with us and give her recommendations on places to visit and where to eat and made a delicious breakfast! He spent time talking to us about the horses and showed us around the barn. It was a lovely stay!

Clinton’s Woodview Farmhouse Skerries, Dublin

We had a wonderful time!! Mary was a wonderful host. The house was clean and cozy and ALWAYS smelled of home cooking. Mary’s breakfast was “off the charts” good. I took lots of pictures of our place settings as they were beautiful!! I think of her homemade plum jam every morning. I cannot find anything like it here in my local grocery store. The accommodations were perfect for us as we were gone all day everyday exploring beautiful Ireland. We can home to a comfy bed, wifi, and warm shower every night. I wish we had more time in Skerries as it was such a beautiful little harbor town. Mary is warm and thoughtful and made our stay very memorable. I will be back for sure and would recommend The Clinton Farm House over and over!

Glasha, Ballymacarbry, Waterford

Olive is the best! Her home is warm and inviting. The room and en suite were spacious and very comfortable. The best part about Glasha is Olive. She had afternoon tea with us and pointed us in the direction of both the Rock of Cashel and Cahir Castle. Both are beautiful and the town of Cahir was lovely! She serves a very nice breakfast. Olive also gave me directions when we left so we would hit some good spots on the way to Cork.

Glasha Farmhouse, Co Waterford

Glasha Farmhouse, Ballymacarbry, Co WaterfordI wish there were more than 10 stars to give for a rating. Glasha was our first B and B while traveling through Ireland. Olive sets the bar exceptionally high. As the rest of our stays at various other B and B’s were nice, nothing compares to Glasha. The home is beautiful and cosy. The view and surrounding area is breath-taking. Olive greeted us with the warmest welcome and made our stay exceptional. The pub down the street was one of my husband’s favourite places on our trip. The breakfast in the morning was unlike any other. She goes above and beyond. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay with Olive longer. I can’t wait to go back!

Oldtown Farmhouse, Co Kilkenny

Oldtown Farmhouse, Thomastowm, Co KilkennyWe arrived at the B & B the evening before the hurricane. Mary was absolutely wonderful! As a result of the storm all the roads were closed and we were unable to leave as scheduled. Mary graciously provided lunch and dinner for us, even after the power went out! She and her husband joined us for dinner and then invited us for an after-dinner drink. They were both amazing and I would gladly return to their B & B the next time we are there.

SALMON LEAP FARM –  Killarney, Kerry

My mother and I truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful B&B. The family is just wonderful, suites are spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. They were super helpful in planning our tour around the Ring of Kerry. I’ve already recommended them to friends, on their upcoming trip to Ireland. This place and the wonderful family who run it helped make it a highlight of our 3-month trip through western Europe.  – Tiffany

GLENRAHA FARMHOUSE- Mullinavat, Waterford

Simply a pure real working farm family experience. Couldn’t find more politeness if we tried. The cows were great and eager to be milked as I’m sure we slowed them down.  Made it through about half and then a traditional breakfast.  Highly recommended if wanting to experience this side of life.  – Kirstin, Justin

CLONCARLIN HOUSE – Monasterevin, Kildare

Lovely place to enjoy a quiet stay. Marie is one of the nicest hosts I’ve encountered so far; she did all she could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. An “old fashion” hospitality really missed now a days. The room was up to our expectations, just as the premises. We’ll definitely come back as soon as we need a break from the big city!  – Stéphane B. & Estella V.

COOLAKAY HOUSE – Enniskerry, Wicklow

Coolakay House was a lovely stop on our Ireland trip. Yvonne was so warm and welcoming, and made a wonderful breakfast each morning. The staff was extra helpful as well! We stayed here for three nights and took the bus in to Dublin both days from Enniskerry. It was a nice, quiet retreat to return to each night after the bustling city day trips. Would love to stay again someday! – Sarah DesJardins
